How far down can you go
before you reach the bottom?
Through layers of dust and stone,
where memories are forgotten.
Is there a place, a final fall,
where shadows cease to lie?
does it go on forever, never to die,
whispered fears, descending darker stairs,
the heart of night,
you search for edges, or solid ground,
a glimmering of light, a silent sound.
there may be no end to what can be found
echoes of an unknown kind,
reflections lost inside our minds.
How far down can you go?
Perhaps the answer’s clear:
we’ll never reach the bottom,
but still, we face the fear.
